As you are probably already aware, on Monday, Student Researchers delivered over 10,000 signed union authorization cards, along with a formal petition for representation, to the Public Employment Relations Board (PERB) in Oakland. This was a major step that represents the transition to a new phase of the campaign for an SR union. You can see a copy of the petition for representation here.

PERB has already responded to SRU’s petition via letter. You can read their response here. In it, they direct UC to notify SRs electronically about the petition filing. They also give UC a 20 day deadline to provide a list of SRs so they can begin verifying the cards.

In the meantime, SRs are continuing to circulate authorization cards. PERB will continue receiving new cards until the counting process is complete. Can you forward the authorization card to your friends and labmates who have not yet signed? That way, as many SRs as possible will have the chance to hear about the campaign from a colleague before they hear about it from UC administration.

Congratulations again to everybody who worked to make this week possible. Watch the video below for a recap of Monday’s action.
